HOW I GOT THIS BOOK: Review copy from the writer herself! Thanks a lot Sundari J
The charming and dashing Rahul falls for his friend Sanjay’s sister Meghna when they meet after a long time. Having grown up together virtually, they both know each other like the back of their hands, yet they discover ‘new’ traits about each other (attributed to the process of growing up of course!). What follows is a normally paced story of two people finding each other.
Having read Sundari’s works before, I had high flying expectations. Sadly, this book sort of fell flat without enough fireworks like her previous books. Sundari did warn me that she had written this book purely for entertainment; I really didn’t heed her warning I suppose. Of course, she was speaking the truth. This book is purely a tale that entertains without the typical social drama or message.
The cover looks a bit comical. Men wearing neon-ish pink pant is a huge turn off for me. Nevertheless, I love the black and pink color scheme. The characterization is pretty much normal, though Meghna’s character is quite well developed when compared to other characters. I felt the writer - Sundari was un-just towards Rahul’s character. I felt his emotions were rather superficial. That is not typically her style of writing. That narration was normally paced without much drama. I felt the writer dilly-dallied between making the intimate scenes sizzling hot to normal hot, thus the result of which lacked conviction. They story as such was simple that the twist in the end seemed hasty. That twist however, was vital for completion of the story. That magic that the writer crafted with ease in her previous book was absent in this book. Or maybe, the story didn’t actually need much of magic. What magic do two people need when they already half way in love with each other? The writing however was perfect for this story making the book overall a pleasant experience.
MY SAY: Pure entertainer. Read it strictly for the pleasant romance.
