BOOK BLURB :
All life on earth is about to be terminated by an entity as old as the galaxy itself. To make matters worse, Simon has broken everything already.
In a future world that is run by computer systems and that is without want, how can a man find his role? Then, if the very computers he works on to try to make them more human suddenly try to kill him, revealing a secret so vast that it affects every living soul on the planet, can that man be a hero?
These are the questions that face the stumbling, comic, and certainly flawed Simon Bank. His job is to work with the System’s artificial intelligence, making it fit more perfectly into human society so that it can keep the country running smoothly. But when the System threatens the peaceful world he knows, Simon suddenly must rush to save his own life, as well as the life of everyone on earth. Forced to reassess everything that he thought he knew, he is caught within circumstances way beyond his control.
Simon’s only hope is to rely on intellect and instincts he didn’t know he had, and on new friends, not all of them human, to change himself and all humanity. And he doesn’t have much time.

The fourth anniversary of Olivia’s daddy and John Lennon’s death is approaching. Like the shot heard ’round the world, TV and radio stations keep the frenzy alive and recognize Lennon’s life, while Olivia’s mama remembers Daddy’s death. Instead of healing, Mama’s strange behavior keeps getting worse.
After viewing an afternoon talk show, Olivia discovers her mother might have more than a case of eccentricity – she may be mentally ill. When those fears are confirmed, Olivia is faced with more decisions than any sixteen-year-old should have to make. With no adult family members to turn to, she is forced to trust the only people who’ve offered help: one strange man and a friend her mother makes at the mental institution.
Facing the intricacies of her mother’s illness one minute and the decision to have sex with her new boyfriend the next, Olivia finds that through faith and determination, she can conquer it all in this poignant story of love, intuition, compassion, and hope.
“Well look at you, Miss Trailer Queen, all wrapped up in a fur coat. Did your little brother catch it live and skin it for you, too?” Luke had gone from a baseball-playing typical young boy to a backwoods hick since we’d moved to the trailer park, but insulting him like she did made my chest tight and my face burn.
At first, I felt a spike of anger, ready to thrust from my fist into Monica’s button nose. Instead, I fluttered my lashes and held my head high. “No, Monica. Only your daddy would accomplish such a task by hand. I got this as a gift.”
Monica’s face reddened. I could almost see smoke whistling from her ears as her mind spun fast, trying to outwit me. Regardless of her standing as Landon’s golden girl, my wit sparked of amber and sapphire. Monica’s smoldered like a windblown matchstick. I shared a subtle grin of satisfaction on my way out the door to the hallway.
Had my daddy lived he would have spoiled me the same as Monica’s daddy, probably even more. I missed our old house. I missed the hidden corners and secret places I’d disappear to when I yearned for privacy. I missed the peach tree that sprawled across our front lawn. It stood so tall that in full summer, I could reach outside my bedroom window and grab a peach right from the branch.
After Mama ran out of Daddy’s insurance money, we had no choice but to leave our beautiful home and move to Woodlane Trailer Park on the other side of Landon. It was painful for everyone. Becoming the only male in the house and changing schools hurt Luke even more. Luke wanted to leave school, but I saw school as an escape. I was lucky to remain in the same high school. Even though Monica graced the hallways of Landon High, I refused to let her ruin my only happiness. School helped me in many ways. Not only because I loved to learn, but because of Mattéo Santoro.

He checked his watch. “Lunch will be over if you…”
The bathroom door squeaked slightly as it opened, and he turned. His heart galloped, then went into a full-blown stampede.
Devi walked across the room. Although her hair fell down past her chest in two loosely gathered pigtails, they bounced with each step. So shiny, he wanted to reach out and touch the fullness, grab a handful, and smell. Hell, he wanted to slide her hair from the two flower clips and tangle his fingers through the silky-looking waves. She chose that moment to spin in a circle.
“What do you think? Too old school?”
“The suit. I bought it on a fifties replica website online. I like the style, but I know most people don’t swim in suits like this. It’s a swimdress actually. Don’t you love the cute black and white polka dots? I adore polka dots. And how it gathers at the waist, and the sweetheart neckline, how cool…”
Her words were lost to him. All his focus centered on the rays of sunlight illuminating her face as her mouth moved, each word forming on glossy red lips but never quite reaching his ears. The way her eyelashes fluttered over her cheeks as she inspected her suit, tugging at the waistline and running her fingers along the edge of material that nestled against the swell of her breasts.
And then there were her legs. Where the hell did she get legs like that? Long, toned, and tanned the perfect shade of light brown. They looked smooth, and his fingers ached to reach out and touch them.
What the hell? He’d seen her legs thousands of times when she wore a dress—the mainstay of her wardrobe— even caught glimpses of her upper thigh from time to time, but to see the entire package…
Holy shit! She spun around again.
“O, I want your opinion.”
Damn. Her legs were incredible, but her ass. That suit did amazing things to her ass. He couldn’t stop staring, and when she turned back around to face him he craned his neck to try to follow the view.
“You’re game for anything, right?”
Devi compressed her lips and studied Omar through a narrow gaze, taking in the way his overly bright eyes concentrated on her face as if memorizing every pore. Her gaze traveled south to the non-existent rise and fall of his chest and how he pushed his suit jacket aside as he placed his hands low on his hips. He’d stopped breathing while he waited for her reply. That made her more nervous than anything. “Normally I am game for anything, but considering the man asking the question, I’m a little nervous.” She licked her lips.
Omar shook his head, swallowing her hands in the warmth of his. “No. This is a great idea. I can’t believe I didn’t see it before.”
“I’ll hold back on saying I’m glad I could help until I know what you’ve got pinging around your brain.” She tried to pull free of his grip, but he only grasped her fingers tighter. Her inner voice told her whatever plan he’d cooked up included her and she wouldn’t be thrilled with the role.
“Bartow wants a family-first firm. He wants a planner who is married, blah, blah blah.” He dismissed his unfinished words with the thrust of his chin.
Devi nodded, her mouth going dry. Was he planning to hire a wife, or about to propose?
“I might not be married, but what if I were engaged?”
She didn’t want to jump to conclusions about the proposal so she pasted on a tight smile. “Do you have a serious girlfriend hidden away I don’t know about?” The thought unsettled her, but she pushed aside the heaviness in her gut. Omar and relationships mixed like fire and ice. Not that women didn’t find him attractive and vice versa, but his true love would always be work. Most sane women wanted something more than a workaholic commitment-phobe.
He shook his head a bit too vigorously. “No. No.” His grip tightened, and she flexed her fingers so he’d loosen his hold. “Hear me out before you shoot me down.”
“I’m more curious than ever.” Again, she threw sand over that niggling feeling in her belly. She never jumped to conclusions. Living by the seat of your pants didn’t allow it, but…
Why start now? She rolled her shoulders in an effort to relax. Omar pulled her off to the side and out of the crowd moving past them on the sidewalk. His hands shook with excitement, and he swallowed hard before clearing his throat. Always calm and collected, his buildup unsettled Devi, and she tugged one hand from his grip and pressed it against the gurgle growing in her stomach.
“How about we announce our engagement? I could pull in some favors and have it in the press Monday morning. That’d still give Bartow enough time to invite us to the meet and greet. And—”
“Whoa, whoa, whoa.” Devi’s stomach did a nosedive, and she yanked her other hand from his death grip and stepped back. She twisted one of the bangle bracelets on her wrist. “Our engagement? First off, I didn’t even know we were dating. And second, I am not going to help you get ahead by lying.”
“I’m glad you approve. How about you? Fantasies?”
At the moment her fantasy was stripping down naked and letting him have his way with her. Damn, if he didn’t make a move soon, she might take the reins and have her way with him. Screw not making the first move. She’d push him back against the mattress and climb aboard. Being on top definitely had advantages. Goose bumps erupted on her flesh at the thought. She wanted him, but she didn’t realize the intensity until now.
From over his shoulder the television caught her eye. Her favorite part in the movie filled the screen. “I do have a fantasy. Kind of a silly one.”
“Now you have to share.”
“Mine involves a superhero. He’d hang upside down from the building, I’d remove his mask just enough to reveal his lips, and we’d kiss—of course all of this would happen after he came to my rescue.”
“Would you tell him he’s amazing?” She felt her face heat, again. “Of course.”
“And that’s all? I would bet money you’d fantasize about more than a kiss.”
A bubble of laughter escaped. “You got me. Afterward he’d carry me to a romantic oasis by the water, he’d give me the most incredible foot massage, and we’d make passionate love on a bed littered with rose petals—in assorted colors.”
“Oh yeah. I’m sure I’m not the only one with this fantasy. If you’re going to do it, you might as well enjoy it with a superhero. Plus, this is my fantasy. I get it the way I want.”
“Nice to know about your superhero, but I revealed a fantasy about you. I thought you’d reciprocate.” The teasing quality left his voice, and his eyes darkened as they circled the obvious peaks of her nipples through her bathing suit cover-up.
She swallowed. How the hell could he turn her on with just a few words, or looks? “Who said I don’t think of you as my superhero? After all, you rescued me from painful feet and carried me upstairs…”

HOW I GOT THIS BOOK: Review copy as a part of iRead Book tours. Thanks guys!
October this year seems to be the month of thrillers so far! This book did give a tough competition to all the other thrillers I’ve reviewed so far. With a constant element of suspense, the story had me hooked right from start.
Our protagonist, whose actual name is never revealed, is a NSA agent. Nicknamed Doc, he is tasked to observe the Spanish Prime Minister Blanco and learn new tactis of terror. Hell breaks loose when the Blanco is bombed during his daily visit to church. The man behind this assassination is a ruthless psychotic terrorist, Chaban who sets in motion a cruel plan for a terrorist attack in Paris. The American government doesn’t acknowledge Doc’s presence as his identity is compromised. With burdening past and haunting dreams of a small girl who was murdered by Chaban, Doc traipses across Spain and France in a bid to foil Chaban’s plans. Zia, the bold and beautiful MI16 agent helps Doc in his mission.
The story completely frustrated me at one point. I didn’t who Doc was, what was his motive was, why that little girl haunts his dreams and if he really was a professional. The writer took his own sweet time in answering all the questions, save one – the real identity of Doc. These unanswered questions were my motive to keep reading the book. The book had a lot of gut wrenching scenes in terms of gory murder and bloodshed. In fact, the scenes of the little girl wiping her bloody face spooked so much that I dreamt about and woke up sweating profusely. Murder and children don’t exactly go well together with me. The writing was perfect with no typical clinches of a terrorist based plot. The writer deserves credit for inculcating humor in this gory story. The characterization was stellar. Though initially it was all confusing and murky, but as the plot progressed I realized the writer had gradually added dimension to Doc’s character. The description of Europe in the book stood out like a silver lining amidst all the bloodshed. It is apparent that the writer is well acquainted with European culture and culinary.
My wee little complaint would be the usage of Spanish and French phrases without exact translation. Not knowing both the languages, I had to Google what they meant. That was one big distraction.
MY SAY: Racy thriller with a good plot. Definitely not for the faint hearted.

HOW I GOT THIS BOOK: Review copy as a part of iRead Book Tours! Thanks guys!
Not having read the previous books by the same writer, involving the very set of characters in this book, I was a bit skeptical about understanding the relation between the characters. The writer stumped me by delivering a book that really could be read as a standalone though it is very much a part of the series.
Murphy, our super handsome protagonist, is a part of an elite secret military-ish group called the Phantom. Since he is a part of a secretive group – he actually is placed as a liaison officer with the crime investigation unit of the Navy. His first case – 5 women are murdered. One of which actually belongs to the Navy which is the prime reason he took up this case. Though they seem un-connected in the beginning, the share a common bond that Murphy needs to uncover to solve this crime. What began as a homicide investigation turns into a web of cover ups and other gruesome interconnected events. Eventually Murphy does solve the case, but at what cost?
This book is exactly my type of book. Given that every other writer somehow use the same sort of clinches when it comes to military based fiction, each book that I read with this type of story line, I am almost always reminded of some other book with a similar story line. Like for example, the use of Russian mob as the bad guys or a rat very much inside the organization who gives out all military secret, don’t these seem too familiar? I was quite surprised when this book actually didn’t remind me any other such book. Yes, this book also had the infamous (or so to say, the famous) Russian mob. The plot was original, fresh and fast paced in spite of the “traditional elements” employed which can normally be found in any other thriller of this genre. The USP of this story would be its unpredictability. When you think you have it all guessed up, the plot would change its course keeping you hooked. There were a lot of suspense twists and turns that kept the momentum up. Needless to say, the writing was simply perfect. One thing that writer needs to be lauded for is the humor she inculcated in the book. Minus those humorous parts, the book would have been one serious read.
Characterization was one thing that I was unsure of when I started reading this book. Much to my pleasant surprise, I was quite comfortable with all the characters and was able to comprehend their reasons and motives. Of course, I did feel I should have actually gone ahead and read the previous books just for the characterization as I realized the writer employed different members of the same family in her books.
MY SAY: A perfect fast paced thriller. Every thriller lover’s dream
